Snapped mid PM today. Sitting on a tree-branch in our Pattaya, Thailand garden. Looked and acted juvenile to my eyes, - but then my knowledge of the feathered fauna in this region is very limited. Maybe someone could assist in specifying these birds? For a start the feathers made me think of birds of prey, - even the tail end, - but the 'prey beak' is completely missing, - these look more like finch's beaks? No, - I have no idea., - they looked very nice, though.
My good helper mpgoodey just needed a few seconds to decide: MUNIA - more precise: Scaly breasted Munia [Lonchura punctulata]. Judged from a heap of Google as well as Flickr photos, I'll say 'Thank you very much', 'mpgoodey' !
