These flowers grow all over at this time of year. They are so beautiful, filling hollows with purple, but they are invasive where we live, crowding out the native species.

Not sure how I am feeling about this first roll of film that I ran through the Canon AE-1 loaned to me by my friend. I took it to a gorgeous spot at a gorgeous time of day, and I expected I'd get at least one or two photos that would take my breath away, but they are all not-quite-there. I will try another roll of film in it with different subject matters to see whether it was just this roll.

Memorial Day was tiring (our daughter marched in two separate parades, and I followed the band around, and it was HOT) but relaxing in the end.

I'm off to bed so as to be well-rested for band mom duties in the morning. My daughter will be marching for her first time in two separate Memorial Day parades. I was lucky to be in some great orchestras and bands in high school, but my school didn't march. I was always a little envious of kids who got to be in parades, so I'm a wee bit excited to be living vicariously through my daughter.

She was trying out some makeup and wanted photos. So I obliged with three different cameras, and it's only with the Nikon F that I actually caught her makeup (other photos from the day are in my stream).

This camera plus this film takes my breath away when it comes to portraits. I'm starting to wonder why I bother with portraits using anything else.

And this girl inspires me with her passion and imagination and insight.

Hoping for some more picnic weather this weekend. We have a long one here. Memorial Day is off, of course, but my girls also have Friday and Tuesday to make up for the snow days we didn't have this year. Despite today's rain, we're already having fun.
