  • I had to find this book on Friday and could not! I thought it was more of an orange color and started scanning farther down.
  • Ship of Gold in Deep Blue Sea- sinking of the SS Central America. I bought this book about 5 years ago. For me it was one of those that was hard to put down but just about any nautical or maritime book is. This book is on the top shelf of one of my bookcases in the bedroom. - gb_packards
  • Not too many people seem to know this one. My aunt was involved in the recovery of the textiles that they found in the shipwreck.

  • Go Chronicle Books! The only one I could find, though. :( - Todd X.

Rainbow Books

My books were organized by topic and then alpha by author but I decided to change these two bookcases so that they were arranged by color. I like the way it looks but I can't find anything anymore!

Here's a zoom-burst view of my rainbow books: www.flickr.com/photos/bluemarla/2099105201/

You gave me something to do this Saturday... I thank you much. Since I can't find anything as it is, a rainbow booksehlf is a splendid idea. Sweet!

  4. bluemarla (70 months ago | reply)

myleftthumb- before the reorginization, one of the two bookcases was entirely travel. I do have several other bookcases in the house in other areas with different topics. But, you are correct, I do love to travel and sail! :)

Pierre- I am glad you like this idea. If you try it yourself, I would love to see a photo!

Okay now Marla ... I have to say that I don't feel so bad that I have my literary, music and movie collection neatly organized in an Excel file. Not too sure I would have had the gumption to use the rainbow approach to organization. That said ... I have to confess a strange attraction to it. Alas, I still have books in boxes, else I'd be tempted to create my own Marla Rainbow.

Oh, and a nice shot as well.

Curious Marla, Is it still impossible to think you can take Ogden from 53 to 59 without a traffic light or traffic messing up the pace? I remember a day when that was possible.

    Have a great day! ;-)

Dragan, I've got books in boxes and stacked up next to bookcases too. I have thought about the excel approach but haven't implemented it yet. It might take too much time now- I'd rather spend time on flickr!

As for Ogden Ave- it's pretty much a mess no matter where you are. Quite impossible now to get from 53 to 59 without traffic or lights- you would find lots of both now.

Thanks for your comments- they made me smile!

Uhh my little librarian heart hates things like this - bur it sure looks great.. Before I started to study to librarian, I organized my books after size and cd's after color like you do here. :oD

  8. bluemarla (70 months ago | reply)

Cirkisprinsesse- I know what you mean- I wasn't sure if I wanted to break the order myself but I am happy I did.

  9. Rejean Pellerin (70 months ago | reply)

What a great idea! Maybe it is more slow to find a book but while you are searching for it you may rediscover books that you have forgotten and read them again.
Could you post it in my group? This is an excellent photo!

Thanks Réjean. I actually had found your group and meant to post this photo there. I think I was reconsidering because many of the photos look like such formal liraries, I wasn't sure if mine would fit in. Thanks for the formal invite- I have posted it now!

    Thank you for your posting!

  12. Rissan (70 months ago | reply)

Looks very nice, but it would be a disaster for me to search.
I like to have my books in subjects and in alphabetic order.

But it certainly colours your room, and although Réjean is right by sorting them on colour you probably came along some books you hadn't seen in ages.

I know for sure when starting such a project I would be lost in one of them within ten minutes.

    Very colourful.

The search will make you aware of what you have already. and you could stumble upon a book you haven't read for ages, and be drawn to it.
