A big handful of Tuscan Kale was nice enough, but our heritage pointy red cabbages have matured over the last few weeks. How cool do they look!

They will be stewed with apple, sultanas, wine vinegar and stock, to accompany mash potato and some good sausages.

If Madeleine could describe what she wanted to be when she grows up, it would either be a train driver, or a baker. Today we made sultana and cinnamon bread (with a sour dough starter which gave it a nice thick crust).

Clear night last night and great transparency due to the sub zero temperatures. Thousands of stars visible. Was out for a few hours and despite Jupiter being really obvious, it never occurred to me to point the telescope at it. I was too busy hunting asteroids in Taurus.

Hannah made an American style baked cheese cake. It was delicious.

Bottled my third batch of 2011 wine today. Elderberry, blackcurrant and gooseberry. Next up will be plum, possibly with a good kick of ginger.
