My photo of the day is this beautiful white squirrel trying to nibble from the birdfeeders. I can't really blame her for wanting to warm up with a meal -- it's -11 degrees as I'm typing these words. There were about 4 gray squirrels, too. But this one really stood out. Like the black-eyed peas and the New Year's Eve Full Moon, I think the White Winter Squirrel will bring a bit of luck for the New Year, too. Call me crazy.
Do you know what makes a Blue Moon a Blue Moon? Or why black-eyed peas at New Year's are considered good luck? More about the traditional seasonal Blue Moon and my mother's recipe for black-eyed peas at red Ravine.
