Waygood on a table with wings

Waygood on a table with wings

Please visit www.waygood.org if you would like to know more about Waygood

In this painting Waygood was placed onto a domestic table-top to achieve the aim of reducing the building to a scale that allows it to be viewed as a complete form. This symbolises the necessity to "stand back" from a project, which began in 1995. It involves the consideration of an architectural form and it's context in Newcastle as; a historical object, a meeting place; a cultural venue for viewing and discussing art; and a home for an international community of artists. Wings as symbols of flight and take-off, pinpoint the present moment in time when the Waygood building, is about to begin an architectural transformation by Andras Palffy and Christian Jabornegg.
