Immature Phidippus audax Jumping Spider

A nice little jumping spider I found this morning while wandering around in a field full of tall grass and wild flowers. I spotted several other fun bugs and 3 other jumping spiders, but didn't get any good photos (besides the robber fly shot from today).

I'm not sure if I have ever seen a jumping spider covered in pollen before, maybe he/she got in a tussle with a bug in one of the nearby wild flowers.

Taken with the 50mm reversed on some extension tubes. I tried to take a few high magnification face photos with the 28mm reversed on the tubes, but it made a leap for me, then leaped somewhere unknown (maybe it's still in my hair... that seems to happen more often than I would like.)

I spotted this little jumping spider hanging out in the tall grass as shown here:

A rear view of the abdomen exhibiting some very cool red markings. (kind of looks like an upside-down face.)

Amazing, the pollen is brilliant, these photos would be a good educational aid for teaching pollination in schools. Such a cute spider!

great macro images, and I am struggling with how they are taken with tubes and how do you reverse a lens? Perfect images.... and I adore little jumping spiders.

      Thanks everyone.

Goshinksy- Yes, it was handheld, and the wind was blowing pretty hard. I was steadying the leaf it was on with my left hand, while holding the camera with my right. I took 37 photos of this spider, and this (and the other 2 shown) was the only good image I got.

Cindersmom- Glad you like it. The extension tubes contain no glass, and merely serve to add space between the lens and the camera body. I reverse my lens with a ring that threads onto the filter threads of the lens.

Good eye! I love the pollen - goes well with his orange face! But I love the metallic blue chelicerae even more. Wonderful find, and too funny that he jumped at you. =)
