Syzygium jambos

A very attractive Lilly Pilly from South East Asia which does well in our sub-tropical climate. Flowers are followed by fruit which have a rose scent and can be eaten or made into jam or jelly. The tree grows to about 7 metres.

Expertly photographed Greg. In the past I purchased this plant thinking it was a native.

Very very beautiful capture!! This is called in Japan, "Futomomo", and this name is also used for its family name. When it is written sign in botanical garden, most of the people giggles, because it also means "thiigh" hehe. Please allow me to tag in katakana, for me and Japanese's search.

I think it has pretty well naturalised now in Nth Queensland and some native rainforest nurseries carry it in stock. The fruit is one of the nicer of the lilly pillys.
