Frozen Abiqua
Decided to take a trip up here after seeing the excellent shots from Don Pyle. If you haven't seen his stuff yet, I encourage you to have a look: www.flickr.com/photos/22975693@N02/
While at Abiqua, I ran into this group of local kids that were just there to play on the ice. They were much more daring than I was, and walked all the way out to where they could actually touch the falls.

Sweet shot Jesse. So cool to see the falls in this state. So glad you got out there to capture the moment.
Scott's View of the World (9 months ago)
That is so cool, it works great to have the kids there for scale. Just seeing the cracks in the ice in the foreground is enough to keep me form going any farther.
Is the water flowing or is it inside a ice falls?

Wow, that looks dangerous, but very impressive. Lovely tones and the kids give the whole thing a very grand scale.

Those cracks makes a really nice foreground but at the same time looks like a really dangerous spot !
The waterfall was frozen too ?

Woa, amazing. Impresive shot
DenisGiles (9 months ago)
Amazing, absolutely amazing. Those kids are daring. The composition is perfect. The shades of blue in the lake ice move the eye to the waterfall and the contrast of the kids keeps it there.
Definitely one for a gallery.

Wow! What a scene. I usually hate it when folks run into my composition, but the people add a nice sense of scale here. I'm glad they didn't fall in because that would have sucked if you had to dive in to save them.

Really impressive shot. Those kids have balls. That would freak me out too much. I really like how you emphasized the cracks in the foreground to bring up the tension of the shot.

this is really cool jesse....the falls looks so much more epic when you've got the scale of the people right up next to it.

The fall itself is frozen! Amazing to see. I'm with Marianne and would be scolding them, but they really add to scene. What a great picture!!

Awesome shot Jesse! Love the foreground. It would work well as both a landscape and a journalistic image.

That's sweet! I never knew it was that big of a falls! Butte Creek is smaller than it looks in photos and Abiqua is much larger. Nice! Sweet cracks in the forground.
