Foggy Friday.
Perhaps because I've operated in a fog for years, I'm really drawn to the estuary when the sun is setting through the fog. It's amazing, how a place so completely familiar to me takes on a magical new feeling in the soft amber light. Have a great weekend, everybody.

Amazing shots of nature's artwork captured in perfect frames. The light in the sunset shot is breath taking beauty. The contrasting herons and the tree against the setting sun are just awesome. Thanks for sharing these beauties Jim.

Bravo on your Bravo! Thanks for your comments...I agree about the herons on a foggy day...my own private Jurrasic Park experience...I have several rookeries in my firs and one early morning (2 am) a heron sounded so awful. We couldn't imagine what was up and even took our flashlights out to find out why the strange sound was so haunting. At daybreak, we went back and were so sad to find 3 newly hatched babies dead on the ground. All I can think of is that a raccoon came upon the nest and what we heard was the heron trying to defend it's hatchlings. Happily, the herons are on the upswing and I've counted up to 35 of them right here. They are expert fishermen:-)

The fog comes
in on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches......
and creates the opportunity for you to capture these extraordinary images (apologies to Carl Sandburg).....beautiful, Jim....just soooo beautiful!!!

Absolutely incredible set of pictures---I could sit and look at them for hours! When we used to camp by the lake it was the morning and sunrise when you would see this glorious mist on the lake---I'm not much of a morning person but I would rise early and sit on the dock with a cup of coffe and just glory in the beauty of this mist and light---thanks for these!
