Zero's Nose - Week 15/52
It rained today.
The past two weeks, things are really starting to change color around here. It's nice to see some green leaves and to see the flowers blooming. However, in Ohio spring means lots of rain. I wasn't able to use my idea for this weeks shot of Zero because of this, so I decided to go for a quick session out in the field and do a few shots of her nose since I missed Illona's challenge of nose shots a few weeks back. Now that I think of it, it would have been really cool to do this challenge on a crisp morning when her breath is visible. I must do that another week!
Along with spring comes Zero's summer coat. I never realized how dramatic her coat changes throughout the seasons until I was looking at all of her photos a few weeks back. Zero's rust colored summer coat is already peeking through her dull, winter coat; slowly but surely.
On the (quick) walk back home, I was yet again reminded of Zero and I's connection and how 'human' she really is. Walking up a steep hill covered with leaves, she got to the top first. I was still having trouble climbing, while trying to hold my camera under my coat. I looked up, and Zero had stopped at the top of the hill, climbed halfway back down, and waited for me so I could grab her collar so she could help me up the hill. That is not something I taught her, it's just something she does.
I will never have another dog like her in my life. I've come to realize we are lucky if we just have ONE dog in our life that we can connect to on such a level.

Wow, great shot. That is amazing that she comes back to help without prompting. I feel the same way about my Maggie. She's not always the best behaved when it comes to recalls, but she is the most amazing dog I've ever had. We are so lucky to be able to make these connections.

Zero is such a good girl to help you up the hill.
Pretty colors here. Today was not a good day to be outside.

that connection I have with Judah....it's priceless. the others are so dependent on me, while Judah is like an equal.
her coat changes too. summertime means she turns very dark when the winter coat is gone.

i'm beginning to wonder if what you describe is a shepherd thing..i swear mine is so different from any other dog i've had.
the way he looks at me when i talk to him, i just KNOW he knows what i'm talking about. i even answer myself as if it were him talking, LOL
or it could be that i'm totally nuts..either way, our pups are pretty special.
love this image of zero's nose, beautiful processing and crop!

I love this. the tones and the composition.
unique.
we have 5 dogs right now. we had three others before these, and when I was younger I had several.
I connect to each dog differently. I love them all the same. yes, the same. only different.
