It's been ages since I post something to Flickr but I've been busy... I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy who is now nearly six months old! He is the centre of my life now, I am spending most of my time playing with him, cuddling him and loving him. Being a mum is the best thing ever happened to me :)

Although this cookies are called bitter "almond" cookies they are actually made with hazelnuts; to give the aroma I used bitter almond extract. You can find these cookies in any patisserie in Turkey but since I live abroad that's not an option for me; so I decided to make my own! It took me couple of batches (30 eggs and 600g hazelnut, to be exact) to figure out the perfect recipe but I finally did it! They are sooo yummy you have to taste it to understand what I'm talking about!!

Zeytinyagli & Portakalli Kereviz

This is a very old traditional Turkish dessert made with a lot of ingredients. They say it originates from Noah's Arc; when the flood is subsidised and Noah's Arc sat on top of the Agri Mountain he decided to throw a party ( :) ) and prepare this dessert with the remaining of the 41 ingredients in the ship. Today we prepare this dessert by boiling at least 10-15 ingredients (like dried figs, apricots and cranberries, almonds, hazelnuts, pine nuts, walnuts, chickpeas, beans, wheat, orange zest and maybe more) with sugar and serve it cold when its set
