    Newer Older

The dam constructed at the southern end of Lower Pond effectively blocked water flowing from Lake Iroquois and created a source of potential energy that was used by Hinesburg industrialists throughout the latter half of the 18th and all of the 19th century. Water in this pond was used to power more than a dozen mills along Pond Brook.
