Common Cattail
The common cattail is an emergent (above water) plant found in Puntey wherever there is damp soil or shallow water, including wet meadows, marshes, shallow ponds, river floodplains, and drainage ditches. Cattails serve as a source of food for several critters, including beavers, and provide shelter and nesting materials for many other animals, such as the red-winged blackbird.
