Due to spring flooding, Sand Hill Road and its bridge have been raised several feet from their original height; likewise, the original wooden girders (left) and deck of the bridge have been upgraded to metal and cement (right). Though the bridge allows the waters of Sacketts Brook to flow beneath, the rest of the road basically acts as a dam, making it difficult for water to drain out from the Central School Forest Swamp, which helps create a pond of open water. Sand Hill Road, originally called Pine Street, is one of the oldest roads is town.
