Magpie midflight

    Newer Older

I finally managed to photograph one of the famous local birds, a magpie. These guys have such a nice motion in flight but unfortunately that couldnt be captured in a still. I reduced the saturation of all colour channels to 0 apart from blue to really emphasise how colourful these birds are - they are not just black and white. There is no saturation boost for the blue either!

Good capture. The idea with the desaturation works very well!. They are indeed beautiful birds.

Great in-flight shot -- love the wingspread. I've found these birds very hard to photograph well. You're right about the color. You have some very nice bird photos in your stream.
