pall mall palette
South-east England's dramatic sunsets surprised me, especially this
apocalyptic-like backdrop to Pall Mall's rush hour! Pall Mall is a
major street in St James area of central London & is named for the
mallet & ball game 'palle-maille' played there in the 17thC. It
was once the centre of London's fine art scene & is best known for
the private 'gentlemen's clubs' built in the 19thC, many still open
today. The southside of Pall Mall has belonged to the crown for
hundreds of years & is where St James' Palace, Marlborough House,
Buckingham House & other royal residences can be found
Trivia : in the London version of the board game Monopoly, Pall Mall
property can be bought for 140 pound, oddly low for a street of such
exclusive status :-).View On Black
