Move, move, move

Move, move, move

Like many others, this one didn't make it to Fotolia... So I thought I'd post it here instead. :D It's an old photo I took in October 2008 in Trakošćan.

Going to...

Going to...

I have finally prepared the gallery of photos from Poland for my friends and colleagues who went there with me, and I spotted this one, taken on Rynek. I could have removed that guy on the left edge, sure... :D

Krakow’s central Grand Square (Rynek Glowny, often translated wrongly as “Main Market”) has been the hub of the city ever since its Old Town historical district got the present grid of streets in the 13th century. The huge 10-acre square, the largest of all Europe’s medieval cities, is a curio in itself. At the same time, it is arguably one of the world’s most beautiful plazas.

Krakow's chief landmarks at the Rynek Glowny central square are the 16th-century Renaissance Cloth Hall in the center, the 13th-century Gothic Town Hall Tower, the magnificent 14th-century Gothic basilica of the Virgin Mary’s (shown on the photo) with its astonishing Great Altar and the tiny church of St. Adalbert's whose parts date back to the 11th century.

Avenue Mall, among other buildings :D

Avenue Mall, among other buildings :D

One more photo from my Saturday evening photo shoot... This one is a composite of 10 separate exposures which mainly differ in light trails.

Avenue Mall consists of 125 shopping and entertainment premises - a supermarket, specialised stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and nine cinemas. It is situated at the crossroads of Dubrovnik and Većeslava Holjevca Avenues, only a 10-minute drive from the city centre, in the vicinity of a bus and tram stop. [more...]

Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb

Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb

Visited the new building of the Museum of Contemporary Art here in Zagreb last evening, trying to capture the moment during the blue hour. And it turned out to be a difficult task, as all kinds of lights interfered, so I had to to lots of post processing (still not satisfied with the result, but one's gotta stop at certain point :D) This one was taken from the south side of the building, inches above the puddle of water on the pavement.

After many years of effort invested in securing an adequate space for the Museum, either by remodelling the existing or by constructing a building, a decision was made in 1998 in favour of the latter option. The new location was set in Novi Zagreb, at the crossroads of Većeslav Holjevac and Dubrovnik Avenues. In summer 1999, Croatian Ministry of Culture and Zagreb City Council launched a national architectural competition, supervised by the Zagreb Architects Association, which selected a design by architect Ivan Franić from among 85 candidates. Adam & St. Mary's Basilica

Adam & St. Mary's Basilica

Almost three months after my visit to Krakow, I browesed through a pile of ordinary looking photos and thought I could try to rescue one of them... So I grabbed the raw file of my night shot of the St. Mary's Basilica on the main city square and did a bit of B/W conversion, curves, lense distortion correction and toning.

St. Mary's Basilica (Polish: Kościół Mariacki), is a Brick Gothic church re-built in the 14th century (originally built in the early 13th century), adjacent to the Main Market Square in Kraków, Poland. Standing 80 m (262 ft) tall, it is particularly famous for its wooden altarpiece carved by Veit Stoss (Wit Stwosz). [more about the Basilica].

The statue on the left is of Adam Mickiewicz, the greatest Polish Romantic poet of the 19th century. [more about the Adam Mickiewicz Monument]
