Baptist Chapel

Baptist Chapel

This is where Val & I were married by the Rev. Smalley all those years ago.
Val's grandad, Fred Matthews was Sunday School Superintendant many years before but in our days it was Ron Neale.

Newnham

Newnham

This postcard is especially poignant for me.
My sister Judy sent it to me for Christmas and it's a picture of Newnham, one of the oldest parts of the village.
What makes it so special is that the house that is slightly left of centre is the one that I was born & brought up in.
The single story white structure at this end used to be our garage but it appears to have been extended and brought within the living area.
The roof was originally thatch but when we lived there, it was corrugated iron and has now been tiled.
It's quite ironic that I have collected post cards of Burwell for many years and never knew 'til today that there was one featuring my birthplace.
It's not an old card but hey, who cares.
I'm a happy bunny.

Silver street behind St. Andrews Church

Silver street behind St. Andrews Church

Although we always thought of this as the bottom end of the village it was actually at the top being the most northerly.
I didn't actually realise it was a continuation of Silver St. until I got this PC!

King Billy 2

King Billy 2

Another view of the King Billy.
I used to leave my bike there when I caught the bus to school.
