*Bundy*'s photostream  

This photo was taken from the top of Mt. Pelion in Trenton, Ontario on the night of the 2012 Super Moon. The reflection of the moon can be seen on the waters of the Bay of Quinte.

It was also the opening of fishing season and you can see a few fishing boats in the moonlight on the bay.

On the night of May 5, 2012 a Super Moon appeared in the night sky and I felt compelled to at least get a shot of it, although I wasn't overly happy with my images from the evening. To be honest, the moon isn't my favourite subject to photograph. :-)

Supermoons occur when the moon's closest approach to the Earth — known as perigee — coincides with a full moon. The moon has an elliptical orbit with one side about 50,000 kilometres closer than the other.
