      The proper species name for your bird is "Colaptes auratus cafer" which is the "Red-Shafted Northern Flicker" found in the Western United States. The "Yellow-Shafted Northern Flicker" is the "Colaptes auratus" and has the black marking on the side of its face and red on the top of its head. Just wanted to share! Love your photo! :)
