Pelican

Pelican

American White Pelican on the Salton Sea in California. We drove out to the area to see if there were migratory birds as there likely would be this time of year. Saw many Egrets and an abundance of white Pelicans. I had a polerizer on my lens to boost the colours but with the sky and sea I had a lot of blue Pelicans. One of these days i will shoot in RAW so doing things wrong is easier to fix!!

Egret

Egret

Greater Egret on a rock on the Salton Sea with American white Pelicans in the background. the Salton Sea is on the flyway for many of the migrating birds so great fun to go out with binoculars and the camera.

The Salton Sea is a shallow, saline, endorheic rift lake located directly on the San Andreas Fault, predominantly in California's Imperial Valley. The lake occupies the lowest elevations of the Salton Sink in the Colorado Desert of Imperial and Riverside counties in Southern California. Like Death Valley, it is below sea level. Currently, its surface is 226 ft (69 m) below sea level. The deepest area of the sea is 5 ft (1.5 m) higher than the lowest point of Death Valley. The sea is fed by the New, Whitewater, and Alamo rivers, as well as agricultural runoff drainage systems and creeks. Wikipedia

Broken Energy

I liked this sad broken windmill in the sunset on our way home from a search for Eagles.
