Arlesey Town Clowncil

Arlesey Town Clowncil

I took photos of a relatively new (1996) cemetery where Arlesey Town Council has a problem with subsidence due to a stream running under the place. Folk have to pay to have their deceased's headstones replaced and this has cost a few residents dearly. After I showed a photo of the crooked gravestones on facebook on an Arlesey fb site the Town Council are to trying to vote in a new rule banning any photos of the cemetery unless they give prior consent. This basically is unenforceable and takes away peoples rights. At no time did I show any names on the stones, just how crooked they were for a new cemetery, and raised the issue into the public domain. The council knew of the problem, they even decorated some slightly leaning stones with red and white tape to get the relatives to pay out for re-siting the stones. The issue has been discussed many times by the council since 1996, all of those meetings were held behind closed doors, the public and press were excluded. So in the interest of furthering free speech, and in the interest of the people of Arlesey, I post this photo message. On the 7th March 2012 your Town Council will vote to keep their problems secret. Don't let them do this. It is possible that every town resident will be affected at some time or another. The land is wetland, it is located just down from the Blue Lagoon, a flooded quarry, and the original survey was carried out in a drought. The cemetery needs draining, urgently! Graves have to be regularly pumped out prior to burial! A few years ago, one coffin actually turned over when they tried to fill in the grave, and a grave digger had to stand on it to keep it in place! Double graves have been stopped here due to the water problem. Need I say more?

Another much seen but seldom photographed, they are so pretty, otherwise known as a Hedge Sparrow. It's been a quiet couple of days, for me that is, but my garden has been busy!
