Glistening Snow in Orkney - Feb 2008
The road up to the Head of Houton - February 2008.
This snow to my great surprise arrived overnight - and equally surprisingly - had vanished by the next morning, much to my chagrin!

Nice shot. That low sun really brings out the shadows in the dimpled snow.

What nice untrampled snow! Sounds like your snow comes and goes similarly to how it comes and goes in Walla Walla, WA ,USA.

Lynn -
I see that you too made it to Explore - Well Done!
Thankyou too for your kind comment!
Here in Orkney, N Scotland we are about the same latitude as Anchorage - but as long as the Gulf Stream Phenomonen lasts we are blessed with a temperate climate. However Global Warming could switch off the Gulf Stream, drastically affecting not only our climate but countless Millions of others all around the world.
Let all of us pressure our respective Politicians to seriously tackle this issue jointly with the utmost urgency!

Wonderful shot. Love the composition/light. We haven't had any snow at all down here in Shropshire (except for a bit on the hills)
