Clare Island
The low sun irradiates the spray with light, and catches the light chamber of the old lighthouse. It is decommissioned, but the sun makes it look like it's emitting a beam. It feels a bit like a "Solstice at Newgrange" event for the old light! The long line beside the lighthouse is the whitewashed wall of the Irish Lights enclosure, atop the cliff. People who know Clare Island know the lighthouse is on top of enormous cliffs, but this perspective really gives you the scale of the cliffs behind, that fall from the mountaintop sheer to the sea! Higher than Slieve League, but without the handy viewing point from the car-park!
