Nina, the barn owl. She was born at the Raptor Trust in the summer of 1998. Her parents were permanent residents and she was the last of eight chicks hatched. Because she was the youngest and the smallest of the chicks, she was not getting enough food. The medical staff was concerned about her survival, so they made the decision to take her out of the nest. She is now a part of their educational program. Barn owls are strictly nocturnal and have the best hearing of all the owls.
