This is a detail from the bronze doors of the McGregor Library. She is the allegorical figure Agriculture. She reflects the farming origins of Highland Park, which went (in less than two decades) from a farm community of 400 people to the epicenter of the Industrial Revolution, as Henry Ford introduced the $ 5 a day wage at his plant on Woodward Avenue. Frederick Torrey, a sculptor from Chicago, designed the doors.
