Kevin Mitnick's Business Card

Kevin Mitnick's business card is a break-out lock picking kit. Photo taken by ProzacOD.

This was taken during Kevin Mitnick's visit in Israel. He just had these cards made, so he was very excited about them :) He gave me one during a TV interview, but I gave it back to him so he can demonstrate using it for the cameras.

It's kinda weird to see someone else posting this, when at one point I had like a thousand of those in my living room... Good to know they're going around!

    7. b.e.n. (64 months ago)

Such a nice idea! where can i get cards like that?

    8. Ran Yaniv Hartstein (62 months ago)

There was a lot of interest in the photo lately. Could Mitnick's appearance on playboy have anything to do with this? (link to PDF scan on Mitnick's site)

@Antiuser - did you design these?

    9. antiuser (61 months ago)

My ex wife did pretty much all of the design. I typeset them. They were made by www.metalcards.com out of Seattle.

      thats the ish

    11. delinkadev [deleted] (59 months ago)

So who did this first? Mitnick or melvin.net?

    12. antiuser (59 months ago)

Melvin was first. Mitnick got permission from Melvin to copy the design and asked us to create a variation on it, since he wanted more text to go on the card.

    13. AlanSTran (59 months ago)

Now where can I get me one of those?

    21. Tim Trueman (59 months ago)

Awesome, I wondered who did these. I had dinner with him and got one, very cool but I'll never use it sadly...

I'm just amazed that he lives in Green Valley, I grew up in the same zipcode. Weird.

This photo just exploded recently - it was always popular, but now it got 55K views just in the last few days.

This probably had something to do with it:
      blog.wired.com/geekdad/2007/07/lockpicking-fo r.html

What else? Something Mitnick did recently got all the attention back?

The most annoying part is that I didn't even take this picture, I didn't have a Camera back when it was taken and I had to ask a friend.

Surely that isn't alowed on Airlines

found it through digg.com . Very cool

    30. Ran Yaniv Hartstein (59 months ago)

Yeah, just saw it on Digg my self, took me a few seconds to realize I'm clicking on a link to my own Flickr page.

This is not a fake, BTW, I got it from Kevin Mitnick when he was in Israel last year. I don't have the actual card anymore though, but at least I have this very popular picture :)

    34. Ran Yaniv Hartstein (59 months ago)

Accroding to antiuser who commented on this image earlier, it was made by

      www.metalcards.com/

Apparently, this is the original design, used with permission by Mitnick:

How did a nit wit like you get so tasteful?

    36. Steffen M. Boelaars (59 months ago)

What's the point of obfuscating the details in this pic? Business cards are for making those details public, right? :)

      Great card!

    37. Ran Yaniv Hartstein (59 months ago)

I did in fact see this card pictured with the details visible, and thery are probably also available at his site: www.kevinmitnick.com/

However I'm thinking it should Kevin Mitnick's decision whether to give some one his card or not, and anyway I wouldn't want to get on his bad side :)

    38. fety (59 months ago)

They should have made the design with a hole at the end of the handle part so if and when you break them out you can put them on a split ring and add it to your keychain or something to keep them together. But one could always drill them anyway.

    39. macewan (59 months ago)

      via Digg also

      the cards are pretty neat

    40. Skyflash (59 months ago)

      Massive!

      Brilliant!

    42. rayman113 (59 months ago)

      haha - sweet card !

    43. shawnblog (59 months ago)

      You've been blogged :-)

    44. sba9630 (59 months ago)

I would urge everyone in the US not to get this card and would strongly suggest to Mr. Mitnick that he get rid of his.

In most, if not all jurisdictions, having this item could/would be considered "Possession of Burglar Tools".

    45. Lisérgico (59 months ago)

      Wow, I want one!

    46. Tyrant505 (59 months ago)

      The art of deception.

      This is freaking awesome.
