I started painting again in Late August or Early September of 08', i forget exactly when? I'm now living in an old Victorian house i bought exactly a year ago. Funny, i moved from a dark basement in a rotten neighborhood to a claustrophobic attic, overlooking a shopping plaza. I'd been itching to paint for a long time, but with the move, & repairs on the house, & my 75 year old pace, i didn't catch up w. the time until recently. I have a garage out back i'd like to convert into a studio eventually; my own Jackson Pollock barn. But for now, i had to set up somewhere, so i went w. the top floor. Not sure at all what i was going to attempt (which is usually the case), but i'm quite sure working in this cramped space drove me a little crazy, & had much to do w. the very inward direction of this painting. Maybe some of it had to do w. my life & memories over the past few years. But, at any rate, a whole lot came flooding out, & it was hard for me to steer the direction of this beast. I don't think i ever took such a beating from a painting before. That's probably why i rarely paint. It's really hard to see yourself puking its way all over a huge canvas. It's a lonely & eerie world.

I had a very hard time photographing this as well. Usually i think most all paintings (my own included, of course) look much better when reduced in size through a photograph, but this one seemed to be the opposite. I'm not terribly happy w. the "main" picture. Easy for me to say, but i think this one really has a completely different impact in reality. I hope all the close up shots i took give a bit better insight into what's going on here.

Hopefully this one's worth a damn, cuz' it really floored me in a pretty bad way.
