IRON RANGE VETERANS MEMORIAL

Dan Laurila, 91, of Duluth, Minnesota, left, a WW2 veteran of the US Army Air Corps, who was wounded in Italy in 1943, poses as family members take his photos, in Virginia, Minnesota, on Saturday August 25, 2012. Laurila was among the hundreds gathered to dedicate the Iron Range Veterans Memorial. The 15 foot tall, and 27 foot long bronze memorial was created to remember the veterans and many of the iron miners who played important roles in the wars of the past century. Gareth Andrews was the sculptor, and the Crucible Foundry in Norman, OK poured the statue. (AP PHOTO/Mesabi Daily News/Paul M. Walsh)
