I have a friend, he’s 31.
He had a wife, she was 27.
She died of liver cancer one month ago.
They have four children.
The youngest is barely six months old
This is an age where people put a premium on youth
A generation which considers old people “out of touch”.
Where liposuctions, botox treatments and wrinkle removals are renowned
All aimed at delaying Mother Nature’s unyielding stride
Today we are forgetting the beauty of the lines of our lives.
Let us be reminded that these are our experiences, our pain and our
fruits of labor.
These are our friends, cherished loved ones and our joy and suffering.
Our lines are us.
The years will pass by and I will have my own
I will wear it proudly.
For there are other people
Who didn’t get the chance to wear them at all.
