- mug for little bits of rubbish and for small scissors
- an organiser I made about 16 years ago, now replaced by the atomic to-do list and tickler and housing my journal only now
- atomic to-do list for the day, now being phased out for a semi-permanent mindmap 'today' to-do list
- space for high magnification reading glasses used as handfree magnifying glasses, and spec case
- docking station for the A6 expanding file
- ideas on stickies waiting to be filed, and some used stickies cut into strips as page markers, also some blank ones to annotate - all on an acetate sheet

Incredible! I saw this in the MAKE pool and it stopped me in my tracks! I've heard about GTD but I haven't implemented it myself... this sexy carousel is definitely hot hot motivation! Good job!

Thanks lrhb. It was quite easy to make. The three uprights and top were the sides from old drawers. I nailed hardboard to the base and back, a few pieces of wood (t&g cladding) added as shelves (using skewers as dowels, as some of the shelves are opposite one another so the second set can not be nailed in), then some slats nailed to the back (tricky, from inside, using a nail punch- though one could use small srews) to form spacers and deviders for the rear section, then another sheet of hardboard nailed on that. I used panel pins throughout, nailed in at an angle to prevent them pulling out. Its just resting on the turntable. Voila, a desk apprentice, done in an afternoon. Staples sell a nice looking carousel with room for hanging files! Seen first here on Patiea's photostream.
It sure makes it easy to be tidy and know where stuff is when I need it. It has probably already saved more time in the month or so since making it than it took to make.

I love the idea...I think I have to put it on my think list...;-)

Hey ... that's way cool! And thanks for the link. I am still loving my Desk Apprentice -- it really organizes a lot of stuff in a small space. However, if I had any talent in woodworking (or metal), I'd much rather have that than cheap plastic. Why's everything these days have to be plastic?
