A different view.
I took a tweed sport coat from the Hospice Thrift Store and turned it into this. I used a bound buttonhole technique to make the front openings that go into a hidden muff/pouch that's open so the little fingers can meet. The buttons are functional and there is also a hook and eye closure at the top so it can be worn either way.
The original pockets still work.
I used the Grosgrain storybook cape pattern but drafted the collar pattern myself from the hood piece.
