The Moon, in waning gibbous phase, taken from back garden not long after midnight (of the 13th going into the 14th), at 1/100sec and with ISO 80, at maximum 24x magnification. Fine sight of the Oceanus Procellarum, the mightiest of the lunar marae, down the left here with the small 'seas' Mare Cognitum, Mare Humorum and Mare Nubium at the lower-centre in between the great ray-craters of Copernicus (centre) and Tycho (lower right), both clearly visible. North of Copernicus is the great round Mare Imbrium, plus the Apennine mountains and half the Mare Serenitatum disappearing into the shadow of the terminator at the.top. Also both the brightest – the crater Aristarchus, centre-left – and the darkest – Grimaldi, lower-left – spots on the Moon's surface are in view.
