I found your Fashion Meets Faith set via the
lovely Fathima, and this one's my favorite shot of the
series. I LOVE her outfit, and her calm and
confident, steady (slightly defiant?) gaze.
Seriously rocking. (I'd love to see more of
her boots!)
Looking forward to seeing what you add on to
this series. Your entire photostream is
beautiful! =)
Hamza, you are FIRST on my List of People to
Stab, if only because you're practically down
the street over there in Santa Cruz, so the
odds are high I'll run into you before I run
into Hashim. As my Baji would say, you're ON NOTICE! (both of you,
for that matter)
And I smell damn GOOD, is what! I'd tell you
all about the new bodywashes I bought while
shopping this weekend, but maybe I'll save
those conversations for Ayesha and Zana.
Also, Costco had some ROCKING food samples
this time. I pretty much covered my lunch and
dinner quota of the day, while there.
Hashim, don't get so giddy now, buddy boy.
You're the numbar-von stabbee on the List of
People Outside California.
Shai, please don't hate us. We have a
tendency to hijack the comments on some
random tangent, wherever we go. You will
learn (if you have not already) that our
favorite topics of conversation are: -FOOD -chai (& how much I hate it) -stabbing sessions -cold weather -that one basketball player, Kahlil Gibran
hashim: I don't mean to steal the title from you
Hashim, you are much more worthy of stabbing
than I.
yaz: I'm not stalking you! I just think that 90%
of traffic to my flickr account is somehow
your fault...everyone I follow back has some
connection to you...
okay okay okay... we're moving the party to this thread. (notice how chai - once again - enters the
picture)
and remember that i'm not the one bent on
world domination - it's the un-named
individual who smells all baby powdery and
still wears surma after she has *teyhl*
applied to her hair after bathing while
sitting out in the sun.
;o)
and on behalf off the rest.. apologies to
Shai* - just in case.
hahahaha... Shai! Do you get ANY of their
nonsense? Do not welcome them.. LOL they'll
take over EVERYTHING.
she has *teyhl* applied to her hair after
bathing I
know you are not talking about me, but OMG
THATS totally me these days- Guess what, When
daadi amman come from Pakistan to attend
granddauther's wedding, she expects her to chuproofyoil every day. You can fry an egg on my head
these days :D
Shai* I found your set throough Fathima's contacts (though she do no know me at all,
but thanks to my stalking habits), ITS very
uniquely stylish.
Thanks for all the comments guys...its always
great to receive some positive feedback!
Noshii yes, this is part of a personal
collection. Most people assume that if you
have faith/ practise your faith, that you
aren't able to be a part of mainstream
society/ fashion. These shots defy the usual
hijabi stereotype whilst maintaining the
personality and "hijab" of the
model. Am hoping to add to this over time.
Yikes, how did I miss this one? Hi Hash/Yaz
and Ayesha... Yaz you're so badtameez! :P you can tell our
kid Hash about cool photostreams but not this
chachi sister? I really love this photo, I agree it is a
defiant look, like 'you can't touch a hair on
my head' - no pun intended... love what she
is wearing, just goes to show you can mix
fashion and hijaab, she looks great!
very fashionable but quite unislamic! there
are restrictions when it comes to the islamic
faith and western fashion! .... i do like
your photography skills however.

I swear to God, I keep stumbling on people's wonderful photos, and then Hashim and Yaz have already been there.... this is getting creepy... hehe.
Wonderful shot, and I agree, Yaz smells (only because she doesn't like chai. If you renounce your chai hating ways, you will cease to smell.)

superb series, this especially feels more "real" to me - as in you see sisters like this out and about . . . interesting stuff.
