i think i'm in love
Meet Fishie (or Rasputin, it's still under debate). A co-worker brought him up to me today because he was floating on his back and twitching in her aquarium, the other fish were ignoring it, and the pre-schoolers were freaking out as they witnessed the bleak nature of the cycle of life..
She suggested I flush it, since it was probably suffering and there was no way it was going to recover, but I can't even bring myself to flush an actual dead fish, much less a sorta dead fish. And why the hell did I have to do her dirty work anyway? Maybe it's that killer instinct my boss teases me about...
So here he is, in a vase on my desk in the classroom. I did some poking around online and am trying a few methods to rehabilitate him, and so far so good! Fishie is adorable, and I love him already, even though that means I'll probably stay up all night making sure he eats and poops.
This photo really trips me out, I have no idea how it turned out this way. I used RAW (thank you to Shane, PR, and je_ne_suis_pas) and lowered the ISO (thanks to PR) and it seems to pop in a nifty way. Couldn't figure out how to get Rasputin more in focus though...

That's a fun picture, try increasing DOF a bit, just one or 2 stops, my guess is that the front of the glass is in focus and he's just a tiny bit too far behind it. May need to bump the iso to 800 as your shutterspeed is quite slow already (which may be the other fuzzy factor if he's moving).

Ha! Sondra i was right! Fishie is the best name ever :) He is awfully cute though :) I love the reflection in the vase.
