AKHMETA. September 2011 - Roin Terterashvili, farmer, sees better
prospects for his small cow farm with a new milk processing plant
opened in his mountainous region. Roin is getting more cows and plans
to open a milk collecting facility that will serve small farmers from
the nearby villages.
Roin’s home village is in Pankisi – a mountainous region in north-east
Georgia. High level of rural poverty and unemployment makes this
agriculture area one of the poorest in Georgia.
UNDP works in the region since 2010 to create more economic and social
opportunities for local residents.
