Painted as a tribute to the famous original "Yankee Stadium" built in 1923 in the Bronx, New York, New York. It was the home baseball park of the New York Yankees. It was also the former home of the New York Giants football team. The stadium's nickname, "The House That Ruth Built", is derived from Babe Ruth, the iconic baseball superstar whose prime years coincided with the stadium's opening and the beginning of the Yankees' winning history.
There were so many famous players who played for the Yankees. These include:
Joe DiMaggio, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Reggie Jackson, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera.
A new modern stadium was built for the Yankees that opened in 2009.
