In their Expressions

This photo was taken on May 14, 2010 in 북아현동, Seoul, Seoul, KR, This was published in the Korean professional photographers association's magazine Portrait as part of a bio piece about me and my contribution to the expat photo community in Korea. They are preparing for the lotus lantern festival at Jogeysa. This festival is one of the biggest photo ops of the year for Korea. I have been over five times and have gotten some of my best photos from there. This photo became my most popular photo on flickr very quickly. I think it is because the kids are really cute but also because each one has a different emotion playing across their faces so even though they are all identical in appearance you can quite easily tell their different personalities.

If the love of Jesus, and the only true hope, joy, and peace that He offers offends you, than I feel bad for you that you are missing out.

First of all, one of the most lovely. serene, harmonious photographs on Flickr, that is what I am looking at, that is what I appreciate here.

Oh, did I mention, that the spiritual endeavor is Buddhism, not Christianity, not Islam, and certainly not meant to exclude, I am sure, anyone from admiring this wonderful scene.

From my point of view, Buddhism is true hope, and joy, and tolerance, and peace. In fact, Buddha I believe lived 600 years before Jesus. Your spirituality is Jesus, the young monks in this picture believe in Buddha. Everyone is wonderful in their pursuits, in my opinion.

However, for my own self, I personally believe it is the ultimate INSULT to profess another religious belief, in the space of this wonderful photographic moment which has ANOTHER religious belief! But that is just me. I respect other spiritualities and beliefs.

I would think you do too. This photograph is a Buddhist moment, a Buddhist reverence, a Buddhist spirituality, and these dedicated young monks probably don't know who Jesus is. Why should they at their young age? Isn't it a wonderful beautiful spiritual harmonious Buddhist moment for them?

Feel bad for me, fine with me. You think I am missing out not believing what you believe? Beautiful.

Tomitengo and Derekwin, give me the word, and I will delete all my entries.

Flickr is a great place to see lots of photographic images and share thoughts and beliefs also.

I was only sharing my understanding on the putting the hands together in Buddhism, which in my mind and experience, is a greeting and show of respect to yourself and others on their path.

Perhaps most of us would like others to respect our beliefs as individuals.

I have no business in forcing my opinions and beliefs on others,so it is not my place to ask others to remove comments on Derekwins pic.

However I am happy to offer information regarding such matters, its then up to the individual to gain a personal understanding through investigation.

      Peace be with you all
