- Lots of tries to get just the tip to show up. More to post later but this one is posted now to celebrate the birth of Baby Hope. Large view here
Spring Means Green and HOPE has Arrived!
This image celebrates the birth today of my second grand-niece, Baby Hope. My brother guano is beside himself with joy to be Grandpa to two beautiful girls from Staycea and Eric. See Baby Hope and the family starting here:

Yeah for guano and all your family in the bat cave. Yeah to Spring and Hope!
BTW, this is commonly called the asparagus fern, but it is a decorative plant used by florists and common to many Arizona gardens. This variety pictured features long fronds about 18 to 24" and the leaves/needles are about 1/3" long. It is not a fern at all, but a form of evergreen. In the Spring in Arizona, the plant gets really bright green and lush. The cone shaped long frond here is seen from head-on at the tip. More information about this plant here. Another image showing the great, glowing bright greens of this plant is here.

Thank you all for your kind comments and interest. Baby Hope arrived after a difficult pregnancy and early on we knew that Hope would be her name if she made it. To see her just so beautiful is a real joy for us all. The minute I heard from my brother that she'd been born, I knew I wanted to quickly find an image to celebrate this tiny miracle.

I like this because you get just enough DOF. It's far too easy to open the aperture up way too far in order to get "reall cool bokeh" and an out of focus mess. You managed to keep enough sharpness on the important part, while still giving it a great out of focus element. Good job!

Wow, thanks for the fine green frond and wonderful sentiments, Sis!
Matt got a new camera and started a Flickr page, and he'll be putting some baby movies up on YouTube. Baby Hope is going to be a well documented kid. All the nurses and doctors made a point to comment on how pretty and healthy and perfect she is. Good vibes all around! By the way, she is my FOURTH grandbaby, so I have one more that you :)
Also today my grandson Malaki turns ONE, so you have brought me 3 grand-nephews, and I have brought you one, but also I bring you grand-nieces Jadelyn (6), Aréanna (2), and Hope. It's a youth movement!
