Quemado Church, Study with Bell
The top left section of the Quemado church seen in the previous image (2 photos back) in full frame. Seen along Highway 60 in western New Mexico in JanuaryA small church seen along Highway 60 in western New Mexico in January. The light was a bit harsh so I used a darker exposure and the vivid color setting on my camera. When I return, I'll try again for shots to show the simple beauty of this rural Catholic church.

About 260 miles I think - will check on distances, for there are some photos I am putting online that I will be returning to in the spring. The drive out eastern Arizona across into central New Mexico is quite enchanting and a fascinating environment people don't usually think of for the Southwest.

I like the outline of the Christmas lights along the edges. Makes the structure stand out more. I definitely need to take more beyond-Phoenix excursions like these...
How long did it take you to drive out that way? (of course you could have stopped all along the way to take photographs, but still...)
