This beauty parlor is tucked away in shopping center in Lanka. In Banaras most salons are sex-specific. The name of this salon demonstrates a very specific marketing strategy - obviously fair skin must be something desirable if that's how this salon is presenting itself to the public. I didn't go in so I'm not sure if they actually perform skin whitening procedures, if it is just for women who think they are fair, or if fairness is so associated with beauty that it just is logical to include that in its title. In any case, the inclusion of fair in the title helps to situate the public approach to skin color in the context of beauty in Banaras.
