Elevator carcass
What's left of the old, ancient elevator sits forlornly in the courtyard. The workers (using sophisticated carbon-dating, no doubt) say it's as old as the building, which dates back to Boss Effing Tweed.

That is one nice, clean courtyard! Mine (in Washington Heights) is much dirtier and full of crap than that.

Are they going to replace the elevator entirely or try to re-build that antique? I mean! 1870s, for real? Sca-ary!
