      I was on Okinawa, a bit younger than these kids, in 1969.

      Thanks much, all. Yes Dawn, that's one of the remarkable things about hanging onto old photos -- they can provide a lot of potential for wondering, speculating and thinking way beyond the here & now.
      Marc, your Okinawa connection is interesting and I notice from your pics that you've also visited Sarawak on Borneo. I spent a while there (Sibu) in '77. No photos to show for it though, unfortunately.

      my profile has no info about me yet but i'm okinawan,, the girl on the right looks like me (?) and I had a dress very much like this... but then it can't be me, I suppose, for so many island girls look like... (^^)
      where in Okinawa has it taken ...???

      That one would've been from somewhere in Naha. That's the best I can recall, since it was about 38 years ago!

      Well, I guess this one has to remain a mistery for that there seems to be no way for me to find out.

      I did send the link to my brother--may be he can show it to my mother and I'll see what she says...

      Can I ask you one more thing..?
      Why did you title " America-jin?" may be you recall that the girl looking at you said that to you..??

      It's just really strange to stump upon a image that looks so much like yourself from years and years ago this way,, and that's why I just can't get that out of mind...

      Anyway, it really does not matter if it's me or not--everything about this photo remind me of these time, and that's what's important.

      Glad you like the shot. I don't remember if she said anything, but it was typical for little kids to say things like that. So, I decided to use "Amerika-jin?" as the title.
