Poor little Cupcake! I'm sure her leg will heal OK. I remember a few years ago, a friend's baby white chipmunk managed to break one of it's legs, and it healed very quickly. It was so small, I don't know how the vet managed to bandage it!

Aww :) Thanks for the encouragement. We won't know until March 18th, when she gets her next x-ray. She sure is a happy little girl, despite the big cast on her leg. I would be complaining all day, if I had a cast on my leg.

Trisha, I'm sorry about your foot. It looks painful! My step-dad is a podiatrist and I used to work for him, so I've seen my share, but never experienced anything like that first hand. I hope you recover soon.

Cupcake is only a 1 lb girl, but she broke out of her cage, and pulled a heavy lamp off of my desk and onto her leg. She ended up with a nasty break. I have no idea how she did this.

We went out to dinner and came home to find the lamp knocked off the desk. The door was closed and locked and no other ferrets were out, so she she did this with no help.

I put everyone in cages when we leave the house, but she escaped, only to get hurt. I feel terribly guilty for not being here.

You are such a good mom to all of those ferrets, you have NO REASON to feal guilty. Be PROUD of what you do for them!

Thank you for asking, Bubba. It's a little crazy here. Cupcake had an emergency last night (her foot swelled up) and the vet and some of her techs were nice enough to meet her at the office late at night to help her out. On top of caring for Cupcake, our dog Belle is suddenly sick, and we are waiting for her test results to find out what is wrong, and Baby Kitty is being very fussy about eating, so I'm spending half my day trying to hand feed her, or care for one of the other two.

When it rains, it pours.

I hope things are improving for Cupcake, Belle and Baby Kitty now. You must be run off your feet trying to cope with the invalids and the healthy animals. I've been there many times, so I know how exhausting it is. Love, hugs and healing thoughts, Catherine.

Cupcake had another x-ray and unfortunately the bone has not completely mended yet. They did not put another cast on her, because she started slipping out of it, and her skin was breaking down from the wrappings. Fortunately she gets around ok because she is tiny, but it's a lot of work keeping her from acting like a ferret. She is supposed to take it easy for a few more weeks.

Baby Kitty and Belle are doing better, too. I really do need a nap or something.

Thanks for thinking of us. She actually sleeps a lot which helps. She goes back to the doctor this weekend. So hopefully they will have good news. She still has tummy problems, probably from all the stress and she still limps, but she gets around ok.
