SE/30 Logic Board (audio caps zoom)

This zoom shot of the SE/30 logic board shows the replacement capacitors I used in the Audio section of the board. The black cap is C2. I used a radial replacement cap, but the stock was axial. For that reason, you see that I have used a little heatshrink tubing to extend the wires. A dab of hot glue was applied to each cap to prevent accidental breakage of the delicate circuit board traces. I used electrolytics because I had them on hand. However, it would look cleaner and eliminate the need for hot-glue had I used surface mount Tantalum caps. However, I reside in Japan where there are no Radio Shacks and online sellers like DigiKey, so I used what I had on hand.

The value of C2 is 470uF. The cap I used (the black cap in my photo) was rated at 25v. However, it is safe to use as low as 16v. The cap is also rated at 105°C.
