      I've found that a little pocket magnifier works well as a macro lens for the iphone.

      Photo was taken with an 8x loupe, similar to this.

      Works great because it is small and the plastic housing sets the distance for perfect focus.

      I've also tried close up filters, but they are a bit large and the lens is way to large to use consistently well against the iphone's tiny lens.
