You mean he hadn't timed it right to thrust a mug of tea straight into your hand as you got back to camp?! :-) The only thing missing from this scene is the steam from the pan ... Now I don't want to be in the office today ...

kinda interesting...he didn't want to summit in the dark and we had a 3:30pm turn around, that turned to 4 and then 4:30, so he went back. I love night hiking/hikeneering so summited, and glissaded back in record time. But he was there for a while ahead of me.
i expected hot water, but he didn't want to mess with the Whisperlite...he's had bad luck with them, and later that night I found out he wasn't kidding. he lit his glove liner on fire, and almost burnt the tent down. my bivy sack no longer has no-seeum mesh, not a big loss as I never use it in summer.
white gas stoves are tricky!!!

I was going to say that this looks nice. compact and organised but after reading your story I think the stove should be a few more metres away from the tent!
