This is my first sucessful attempt at making a Bokeh Panorama otherwise known as the 'Brenizer Method." This image is actually created from 16 single shots that were merged in Photoshop, a very slow process for my computer which was way too full of movies!
I hope to develop my skills a lot more in 2012, I have gotten way too lazy and have been letting other things stop me from pushing myself. So here is to a new year full of potential and possibilities :)

The Birthday

The Birthday

poisonous fruit
savoury blood
save me
sour and dead

I just turned 30 years old. It is currently 2.50am so it's not technically my birthday anymore, but it's still Saturday in some parts of the world so I am counting it!
I had a great day with Wayne, we went to USA foods and the used record store (where I found Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin, Carol King and Patti Smith for $30 total) and then attended our friend's engagement party where they sang Happy Birthday and had a special cake for me :)
This year I received wonderful gifts and generally felt very loved and special. A big THANK YOU to all my friends and family for their messages, cards, gifts and lovely thoughts today, you are all amazing.

"O, swear not by the moon"

"O, swear not by the moon"

"the fickle moon, the inconstant moon" -Romeo

This is my other half Wayne, poor thing got dragged outside after he finished his late shift at work.
I was trying to use my SB700 flash but was having troubles getting it to fire at the right times, after 10 minutes I was ready to give up and go back inside. That is my usual habit when I feel too useless to keep going, but having somebody I am so comfortable with posing for me really encouraged me to push through and keep trying. In the end we used the iTorch app on my phone to light up the white lantern rather than the flash, and we managed to get this shot.

I really hope that the moon is strong enough after all that editing, the concept was to have the man holding it as if he were drawing energy from it while he slept. Kind of like a lizard does as he lies in the sunshine, drawing everything he needs from nature.

This image is definitely a new favourite from the candid files, these boys were enjoying the wedding bubbles provided right before sunset.
What a perfect moment :)

This was only the second wedding I have ever photographed and while I still keep thinking about the things I should have done differently, I have had a few moments while editing these that I enjoy my own efforts. I can see so much improvement from the first wedding I did, so I am going to try and focus on that!

Kelly + Pete

Kelly + Pete

This is a quick one from my friend's wedding in Gembrook last night.

I ended up needing my old 8gb memory card as I filled the 16gb and had to charge the battery during dinner so not surprisingly I have many, many more pictures to sort through and edit! I loved this one so much that I wanted to share :)
