Opera Lines (Mono)

    Newer Older

This is hardly the first image I've posted of the new Oslo Opera House, but this was actually the first time I've set foot on the building!
    Finally! :-)
With architecture like this, its very tempting to focus on lines, geometry, reflections in the large window panes.

Added interest: A man walking away from the main entrance, D-SLR camera in hand - reflected in the windows. New buildings in the background, with a crane signalling the continuing development of this area of Oslo harbour.
This one begged for an arty black & white treatment, so it got one. I'm content with the end result.

The Norwegian opera house was selected as the "World Building of the Year" in the category "Culture" during the "World Architecture Festival" in Barcelona around the same time as this photo was taken.
File replaced with a better processed version, March 14th 2010.

an example of assertive modern architecture; strong assured forms that creates emphatic shadows. great image!

      Nice shot!

Constructive comment (I know it may sound kind of an asshole, but here it goes): It's always kind of annoying to see people on those "Ready to say goodbye" threads pointing out whose picture has more favorites or views than the required to be on the thread (at least for me), but if you do it, you should be careful with your pic as well. Yours has already 73, and it is still there!

Whoops! Thanks for the heads up, @lregoli! Not good of me.
I'm basically not active on Flickr anymore, but should have seen this.
